Wahkiakum in Winter is Wild with Birds
Self-guided and Expert-led Birding Activities
Join us in the Lower Columbia River estuary at the end of February for a celebration of birds, nature, and all that Wahkiakum County has to offer.
As wintering ducks, geese, and swans fill the estuary, the first spring migrants begin arriving from the south. Songbirds, shorebirds, and other species add to an already spectacular mix—making this a wonderful time of year to explore the region and discover something new around every corner.
The Wahkiakum Wild Bird festival will feature guided field trips, independent-operator boat tours, hands-on activities, experienced birding guides, live music, and cultural experiences hosted by our community partners. Whether you're an experienced birder or simply curious about the birds and wild places around you, there's something to discover.
Come for the birds. Stay for the river, the landscape, the people, and the start of spring.
